Welcome to Riverwind Poetry!
Living in a river town is different. Ask anyone from Cincinnati,
Ohio or Louisville, Kentucky. The river defines our boundaries, marks our history, and gives us identity. It brings us
together for ballgames and music festivals. When it floods it separates us from everything we love. The river also inspires
poetry.
The river draws branches, tributaries into its bosom. It gathers the winter snows and spring rain as it rolls
to the sea. The poetry in this collection echoes that rhythm. While not all poems are about life on the Ohio River,
all words draw and flow toward something bigger. This author leaves a part of the river spirit, the “riverwind”
in each verse believing it will also carry the reader to bigger places.

POEM OF THE WEEK
Broken Pearls and Promises
Here comes Junes
as reckless as May goes,
vanishing in a flurry of
broken pearls and promises,
like a bride fleeing the church
on her wedding day.
Elaine in “The Graduate”
chasing the bus.
Ghost flowers fade again.
Torn lace gloves her fingers.
What remains of her beauty
escapes every year.
